Gentle Pilates – Wednesday 15th May, 10.15am (4 week block)
£45.00
Gentle Pilates (formerly known as Pilates for Older Adults) is low-impact and focuses on strengthening muscles while improving balance, flexibility, and posture. Partial weight-bearing exercise, such as Pilates, helps maintain bone density without the high risk of breaks or fractures. This class is ideal for older adults to rehab from surgical procedures like hip replacement or knee surgery and for slowing down the progression of osteoporosis, osteopenia, arthritis and other age-related health conditions.
In the class we target the following areas:
✨ Balance and stability of the lower limbs, to prevent trips and falls.
✨ Mobility of the joints to slow down the progression of arthritis.
✨ Weight bearing exercise to slow down the progression of Osteopenia and Osteoporosis
✨ Controlled strength work to enable you to stand taller, which takes the strain off of the joints and helps to alleviate aches and pains.
✨ Improved cognition as this type of exercise takes a large degree of concentration.
As we get older there are some conditions and illnesses that we are more likely to develop. For many, the most notable changes of aging are a decrease in strength, mobility, and balance.
Over time these changes can affect your daily activities due to fear of falling or injury, which often may result in a loss of independence and reduce your overall sense of livelihood.
The great news is that Pilates is an excellent full-body, low impact method known to align and strengthen the structure of the body.
This is a 4 week course running on consecutive weeks starting on the above date.. The class starts at 10.15am and finishes at 11am and all classes are held at Lymm Youth Club, opposite the Brewery Tap.
You don’t need to wear any special clothing, just comfortable clothing you can move in. You need to bring with you a mat, small hand towel and a bottle of water.
